Spreading Hope

This week I'm gearing up for Easter, so the regular Overflow is being replaced by a quick pitch for this year's Easter offering recipient: Grow Hope.
Grow Hope is an initiative from Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM) where Canadian farmers (including some here in Nova Scotia in the Truro area) volunteer their time and land to grow crops and donate 100% of the profit from their sale.

The funds raised to go into CBM's account with the Canadian Food Grains Bank (CBM is a founding member) which provides emergency food relief and agricultural development in places like South Sudan or Lebanon. Funds raised by the Canadian Food Grains Bank and used for relief are matched 4:1 by the Canadian government. That means that a donation of $500 can (depending on the growing season and market price of crops) lead to an $800 contribution that turns into $3200 in relief to people dealing with severe food insecurity. You can see how other amounts multiply using CBM's calculator here.
If you are able to support this project as part of our Easter offering this year to help grow hope for people vulnerable to starvation you can contribute through our special offering envelopes at Faith Baptist, by sending an e-transfer with a note that it is for "Easter Offering" or "Grow Hope" (e-transfer instructions can be found here) or you can also donate direct to CBM.
Here is the story of one farmer who is part of the Grow Hope program:
